This is a sign posted next to Tranquille River, located on the Northern Outskirts of Kamloops British Columbia. Tranquille River runs into the Thompson River at the mouth of Kamloops Lake. A local elementary school releases Salmon Fry along this river annually.

This photo was taken at Cooney Bay, located at the Northern outskirts of Kamloops, BC. This bay is located where the Thompson River meets Kamloops Lake. A variety of salmon species can be found in Kamloops Lake, including Sockeye, Chinook and Kokanee.

This is a photograph of 3 jars of wild pacific sockeye salmon, harvested and preserved in Alert Bay, British Columbia. Salmon is treasured by Vancouver Island first nations as an integral part of their cultural and familial values. Many members of the First Nation community have spoken out about the diminishing salmon population, and the inherent effects that has on their lifestyle.
