The transition from winter to spring
As the seemingly never-ending short, dreary days of winter start to become a distant memory with the introduction of Spring, I am once again fascinated with the Season’s ability to manipulate our psyche. Seasonal Affective Disorder is real, and I am so thankful for every extra minute of sunlight that we get to experience as we move forward into Summer. Growing up in Northern B.C, winter held on until at least April with sporadic blizzards popping up until mid-May. The standard procedure to avoid disappointment was to never fall for the dream of an “early spring” regardless of how many temporary “heat waves” melted those first layers of frost. This year, however, I am in awe by the fresh green sprouts rising up from this Southern B.C soil within the first few weeks of March, and the uplifting essence it has on the soul!
